We, as Americans, don’t know what we are eating and it needs to change so we are eating healthier. Our bodies have become sensitive to processed food. The Food & Drug Administration has made shelf life and taste more important rather than what is actually put into our food. This limits the amount of nutrients and freshness in the food we consume. However, we remain eating unhealthy processed foods because they tend to be cheaper and take up less time. Most of us were never taught how to read nutrition labels on the back of our products, which leads us to be unaware of how much of a food we should be consuming.
Overtime, we have developed an addiction to cheap and easy food. It makes our lives easier and allows for us to spend more time on other activities. But eventually we find that we are causing more harm to our body.
Because there are so many opinions out there about the ‘one right way’ to eat healthy, Turn the Box Around offers not only some options to how to live healthier, but information on nutrition, serving size, and money saving tips. We are trying to be realistic about how busy we are and tries to make the shopping experience easier. It’s not really our fault that we’re unhealthy, because we are so underinformed and inundated with advertisements, so this website offers practical tips and tools that we can use every day when trying our best to be healthier consumers.
