Is Food Worth Our Time? |
We want fast and easy-to-make-food. We don’t want to cook. So we eat fast food and microwavable meals because it takes 5 minutes to heat in the microwave. These meals are greasy and loaded with unnecessary ingredients..
Why would spending more time on food help my health?
Have you ever been to Europe? Most Europeans spend hours eating dinner with their family because it is an event. They tend to stay thinner and more tone, not just because they walk a lot, but also because they eat slower. Don’t rush through meals, take time, put your fork down, drink some water, and talk. Your body will digest the food faster because there is less being consumed. Don't know how to cook. It’s about time you learned how to cook. This doesn’t mean you have to be able to cook four course meals, but at least know how to prepare a simple healthy meal, like pasta & vegetables or chicken tacos. You can learn how to cook through cookbooks, videos, and cooking classes as your local stores. |
Fast Food
Don't you love the taste of salty, juicy, fast food? Well we do too. But sometimes in order to create a healthy and beneficial future for ourselves we have to sacrifice the things we love the most. For some of us this is fast food. Although fast food is easy and designed to taste good, it’s mentally and physically addicting. The fast food industries have designed their food to be addicting so that we return for more.
Most of the fast food we consume lacks nutritional value and nutrients. We become vulnerable to this delicious, cheap, salty food. The interesting part of the fast food industry is the low cost of the food. Over the years, cows and other farm animals have been fed the leftovers of crops, such as grains and corn. Fast food companies have been able to price their food at low because they are feeding their animals the leftovers. But we, as consumers, forget that we are not only eating those animals, but also the leftover old crops they ate. If you are in a rush, find the closest grocery store and pick up a salad or an apple with peanut butter. There are always healthier options that can be quick and easy and they taste just as amazing as a BigMac. |
